Quick note about the Tsunami in Japan: In case you were curious...we are high and dry. The Tsunami did not affect any of Thailand.
From party hardy Phi Phi we took a one hour ferry to laid back Koh Lanta. Once we settled into our bungalow, dad and I rented some motorbikes and cruised the strip looking for alternative lodging since our current resort would be full the third night.

From party hardy Phi Phi we took a one hour ferry to laid back Koh Lanta. Once we settled into our bungalow, dad and I rented some motorbikes and cruised the strip looking for alternative lodging since our current resort would be full the third night.
That night we ate a delicious meal right on the beach with the crashing waves acting as a sound track on repeat.
With a good nights rest and our fill of an all you can eat breakfast the four of us hopped on our two scooters and wore the tread off the tires. We drove the width (4-km) and length (27-km) of the island making several stops; from lookouts to port towns and of course, a beach or two.
A storm swept over scaring away all but the most intrepid beach goers. Those that stayed were rewarded with an amazing sunset which we soaked up before chowing down at a restaurant in town.
With time running low we decided to take a day trip out to the remote Trang Islands instead of overnighting there. An hour on a sleek speed boat put us in the quiet waters between Koh Rok Nai and Koh Rok Nok.
We dipped below the placid waters at three different snorkeling sites and explored several beaches throughout the day. It was some of the better visibility and healthier reef we have seen thus far, not to mention one of the better beaches.
Shortly after eating lunch we discovered that we were not alone on the island.
Monitor lizards patrolled the interior of the island searching for scraps and straggling tourists. Jenn and I slipped past the lizards on guard and climbed over a rocky outcropping to an unspoiled crescent of sand.
After returning on the speed boat, we loaded our bags onto the scooters and changed hotels.
We spent the remainder of the day and following morning lounging poolside, beach side, or both (helps when they are only separated by a few meters).
From Koh Lanta we caught a two hour ferry to Railay, out last stop before returning to Phuket for Dad and MB's flight out.
